Lotus was founded in the summer of 2021 out of a shared goal of interpreting dynamic and compelling repertoire at the highest level. Collectively, members in Lotus have extended the bounds of saxophone pedagogy and performance on international stages including Italy, Austria, North America, Germany, and Croatia. Each member is a student in the University of North Texas graduate program and are currently pursuing DMA degrees under the guidance of Dr. Eric Nestler. These four saxophonists - Rico Allen, Mikayla Peterson, Trek Boyland, and Ben Facundo are passionate and dedicated educators who seek performing opportunities within the public school system. Based in Denton, Texas the group is eager to share their artistry through their admiration of contemporary composers.

The Lotus Saxophone Quartet strives to provide high quality performances to their audiences. With a wide range of musical diversity, Lotus incorporates traditional and contemporary mediums into their repertoire in hopes to further saxophone literature.

As advocates for chamber music and diversity, Lotus makes a point to perform works by underrepresented composers for each concert and competition cycle out of a shared goal of interpreting dynamic and compelling repertoire
